Washington, D.C. – The Nestpoint Foundation enthusiastically endorses President Donald J. Trump and Kennedy Center leadership, including President Richard Grenell, for their bold decision to temporarily close the Kennedy Center for comprehensive construction, revitalization, and rebuilding. Beginning July 4, 2026, this approximately two-year project will resolve longstanding facility challenges and elevate the venue to the world's premier performing arts institution— a powerful symbol of American excellence as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
This forward-thinking initiative prioritizes lasting quality, efficiency, and national pride over operations in an outdated space. We commend the decisive leadership making it possible.
On October 9, 2025, the Nestpoint Foundation hosted its sold-out inaugural American Exceptionalism Awards Gala at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater. The evening celebrated outstanding American service, leadership, and innovation, with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth receiving the Great American Exceptionalism Award. Inspiring remarks from Megyn Kelly and other speakers highlighted our mission to honor those who embody the best of America.
In response to recent inquiries from supporters about future galas amid the upcoming closure, we confirm the tradition will endure. While no venue can fully replicate the magic of the Kennedy Center, we are actively exploring outstanding temporary locations in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area to host our events during the revitalization period.
John Thomas, Co-Founder of the Nestpoint Foundation, stated: "It will be hard to match the magic of the Kennedy Center, but we'll find a temporary home that allows us to continue celebrating American exceptionalism with the same energy and impact. We're fully behind President Trump and Ric Grenell as they make the facilities at the Kennedy Center worthy of a world-class arts institution."
Tim Phillips, Board Member of the Nestpoint Foundation, added: "This closure is a necessary step to restore and elevate one of America's cultural landmarks. The Nestpoint Foundation is committed to keeping our gala tradition strong—whether in a new temporary venue or back in the revitalized Kennedy Center—because honoring American Exceptionalism and the American Dream is more important than any single location. We're excited for what's ahead."
Regular updates on venue plans, dates and information will be shared via our website, email newsletters, and text alerts. The Nestpoint Foundation remains dedicated to advancing American exceptionalism by recognizing exceptional service, visionary leadership, and groundbreaking achievements. We are grateful for the Kennedy Center's role in our inaugural event and optimistic about its transformed future as a renewed beacon of national pride and cultural excellence.
